COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-  Located between Main Street and College Street, the one block known as  “Catfish Alley” is looking to be preserved.

Being a big part of the downtown Columbus culture, Mayor Robert Smith and Ward 5 Councilman Kabir Karriem are planning ways to beautify the street keeping in mind the history from the 1930’s and 40’s.

Some of the updates would include re-doing sidewalks, landscaping, placing trash receptacles and improving lighting.
The two are looking to put together a diverse group of individuals to form a  committee to represent the project.

They hope to be in planning mode by the end of the week.
