Catfish Spill Slows Traffic On Highway 45 Alternate, Creates Smelly Situation

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – One turn with an unsecured lock and a load of catfish turns into a big mess in Lowndes County.

The incident happened just before 9:30 AM on Tuesday morning.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Spokesman MSgt. Criss Turnipseed says it appears the truck lost its load of catfish parts when it turned off of Highway 45 Alternate onto the Highway 82 on-ramp. Some type of door or gate opened when the load shifted.

Mississippi Department of Transportation crews worked for several hours to clean-up the remains.

The catfish hauler is unknown.

Motorists were able to drive around the smelly mess in the median of the highway.
