Ceremony Honors Those Who Are ‘Trailblazers’ In Diversity, Racial Reconciliation

 

TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – It was an evening where those who have promoted diversity and racial harmony were honored.

The 14th. Annual ms trailblazers Awards ceremony was held at Bancorpsouth Conference Center in Tupelo.

Nine awards were given out, such as the spirit award, groundbreaker award and the Great American Family.

Debra McGee, senior vice president of BankPlus won the first ever Charles Tisdale Groundbreaker Award, while Columbus DA Scott Colom was named Trailblazer of the Year.

“Let me say this, it;s not about me it’s about what you do for others that counts, but of course being a minority business development officer, and trying to help small business minority business in the community and state of Mississippi, it’s a great privilege to be able to see small business owners succeed,”said Debra McGee, winner of the Charles Tisdale Groundbreaker Award.
“It means a lot to me, it means that I am blessed to have been honored to be elected District Attorney for District 16 and this award just really means a lot to me and I’m sure to a lot of people who supported my election,” said Colom.

The theme for this year’s awards ceremony was “Celebrating Diversity-The Strength of Mississippi.”
