Chickasaw County Consolidation Bill Clears Committee

JACKSON, MS (WCBI) –  The move to consolidate the central offices of the 3 school districts in Chickasaw County has cleared its first Senate stop.  The Senate Education Committee this morning approved the bill which would combine the administration of Houston, Okolona and Chickasaw County schools into one district called the Chickasaw County School District  The bill passed this morning does not mandate the closing of any schools under the new district set up.   The full senate must now okay the idea.
