Chickasaw County Regional Jail Applauded By MDOC

JACKSON – A small amount of contraband was found at Chickasaw County Regional Correctional Facility in Houston today compared to previous shakedowns the Mississippi Department of Corrections has conducted at other facilities under Operation Zero Tolerance this year.

“It appears that the Chickasaw County Regional’s administration is abiding by MDOC’s zero tolerance for contraband,” Commissioner Pelicia E. Hall said. “I commend the sheriff, his warden, and staff for operating this facility with 270 inmates in such a manner.”
The seized items include four cellphones (two Flip Phones and two Smartphones), a bag each of tobacco and suspected marijuana, four cellphone batteries, nine homemade battery packs, and $2.12.
The shakedown at Chickasaw is the 16th overall since early March and the 10th of 15 regional facilities. Chickasaw can hold a maximum 310 inmates.
