City And County To Meet About Parks And Rec

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It appears Columbus and Lowndes County leaders will meet to discuss the future of the Columbus Lowndes Recreation Authority.

Supervisors and councilmen are scheduled to meet Monday morning at the Trotter Convention Center.

A public notice about the meeting says the two boards will discuss the joint agreement between the city and county.

After a study commissioned by the board of supervisors, the county issued a one year notice to terminate the agreement that created the recreation authority.

Columbus Mayor Robert Smith has voiced strong opposition against any such move.
