City Rejects Bond Proposal

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus councilmen reject a proposal from the Convention and Visitors Bureau on how to complete the Terry Brown Amphitheater.

The plan called for the city to issue $2.2 million in bonds to pay for the planned improvements.

A city spokesman says one reason behind the no vote is because there were no future plans to address recreation.

Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau board members recently voted to make cuts to its budget for the next ten years in order to pay for the debt, had the city agreed.

The CVB wanted the city and county to pass a resolution supporting the measure.
