Columbus Municipal School District holds first ever Parent Fair

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- We’ve heard about school fairs for students, but what about one for the parents?

Well that’s exactly what leaders in the Columbus Municipal School District did Tuesday night.

Parents came out to learn about the resources and programs being offered to their children during a Parent Fair.

More than a dozen informational booths were set up for the parents.

District leaders said the fair helps them engage with parents and find ways to help students continue to grow.

“I think this is very beneficial for our Columbus family,” said Chief Academic Officer with the Columbus Municipal School District Andrea Pastchal-Smith. “We’re working together as a team to make sure that we have those relationships where parents feel comfortable coming in our district meeting our faculty, staff, and administrators. Once they do that, they feel comfortable with the relationship and we will see an increase in student achievement and the overall relationship that we have established with our students and our parents.”

This is the first year the school district has held a Parent Fair, they plan to make it an annual event.
