Columbus Chapter Kappa Alpha Psi Hold Blood Drive

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- The Columbus Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity welcomed the community out today to help save a life.

This was the organization’s first blood drive.

The goal for today was to receive as many different types of blood to assist the most people possible.

Two of the Fraternity members were O+ which the American Red Cross reports as the universal plasma donor, and compatible with red blood cells for anyone.

Douglas Walker says it’s embedded in the organization to serve others.

“Always feels real good,” said Walker. “We love doing things for the community and we’re always happy as Kappa brothers to come out and do things and save lives. 4.5 million lives are saved from blood giving one pint of blood can save three people’s lives so you know it’s always a good thing whether it’s one or 100 it’s always good to do our part.”

This is the organization’s first blood drive.

They hope to make it an annual event.
