Columbus City Council Appoints New Board Member

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- The Columbus Municipal School District’s Board of Trustees is now fully staffed.

In a 3 to 2 vote the Columbus City Council appointed Telisa Clay Young to replace Currie Fisher.

Fisher resigned from the school board in February.

Young works for the Social Security Administration and has held positions at EMCC, MSU and MUW.

She has a background in workforce development, and also has a child in the Columbus Public Schools.

“I’m very excited about what I can bring forth and being an asset. Using my skills and abilities. Being able to collaborate with the district from the outside, and now I’ll be able to to be on the inside,” said Young.

Young is expected to take her seat on the board at its next meeting.
