COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Search and recovery efforts continued Monday on the banks of the Luxapilila Creek Park for a Lowndes County boy who is believed to have drowned when the ATV he and five others were riding on flipped over into the water.

The body of  6- year old Jacob Brown was found Sunday.

Meanwhile, the search continues for his 9 -year old brother Justin.  The condition of the river is hampering the recovery efforts.

“Today we got one more victim that we continue to look for. We have nets set up,” said Columbus Fire Chief Ken Moore.

The nets are strong, but the fast moving water is making the recovery effort difficult.

“We have no divers in the water because of the swiftness of the water. Its just too swift to dive,” said Moore.

Volunteer rescue teams could be seen Monday riding four wheelers in their search along the river.

“We are running sonar up and down the Lux and even moving into the Tombigbee right now,” said Moore.

Four other family members are okay. There is a trust fund set up in the name of the Brown Family at any Cadence Bank in Columbus and there has been donations for two family plots.
