Columbus Fire To Add Rescue ATV To Fleet

COLUMBUS (WCBI) – Getting help to injured people in rough terrain and crowded places will be getting easier for  the Columbus Fire Department.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is giving the department an almost $25,000 grant to buy a new Polaris Ranger outfitted with emergency lights and rescue boards to transport injured patients.   The main purpose of the ATV is for use at festivals and concerts along with disaster scenes where it is nearly impossible to get larger fire trucks and ambulances to the area.   The Polaris 800 should be in use by mid-July.
