Columbus Firefighters Head Back To Class

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Firefighters in Columbus headed back to class on Monday.

They’re getting a lesson in driving skills to make sure they make it to the scene safely.

Columbus Fire and Rescue held the emergency driver training course, and it’s required continuing education for firefighters.

“The purpose of this course is to get our firemen trained today, to respond to emergency medical calls, and after that, they will have to apply for their state license in order to drive throughout the state to any vehicle accidents, or medical injuries that would occur in this area.” says EMS Driving Instructor, Lamar Thompson.

Videos, hands on activities, and a driving course are apart of the 16 hour course.
