Columbus leaders consider flipping the switch

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus leaders could flip the switch on some street lights and replace them to save money.

Councilmen will study a proposal by Path Company that would replace all street lights in the city.

If approved, this company would install more than 4,300 LED lights.

It would cost the city $3.3 million to be paid over 15 years.

City leaders say by using LED bulbs, the electric cost savings each year would pay for the project.

There will be a 10 year equipment guarantee.
