Columbus man dead after Saturday morning crash

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus man died Saturday at the hospital after crashing his truck.

Robert Robertson, 70, of Columbus, crashed at the intersection of Spivey Road and Ridge Road.

After the crash, Robertson went back to his home when Lowndes County deputies arrived to question him about the accident. While being questioned, Robertson collapsed and became unresponsive.

Deputies began CPR and Robertson was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle.

Robertson was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation into the crash and Robertson’s cause of death is ongoing.
