Columbus Man Shot Last Week Is Now In Jail

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A young man shot in Columbus last week is now behind bars.

Ian Gardner, 18, is charged with sexual battery. The alleged victim is under the age is 16.

Lowndes County investigators say a report was made February 13th, the day after Gardner was shot near Friendship Cemetery.

Gardner remains in the Lowndes County jail.

Columbus police say Gardner is a a suspect in several burglaries.

Investigators say they are close to arresting the person suspected of shooting Gardner.
