Columbus mayor launching new initiative “Walking with the Mayor”

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Columbus Mayor Keith Gaskin wants to hear from you. And he wants to talk during a morning walk.

Gaskin is launching his new initiative this week to visit with the people he serves.

The “Walking with the Mayor” initiative is meant to give citizens of Columbus a time to meet with the mayor and talk with him about their ideas and concerns with the city while also getting some exercise.

Transparency and easier access have been two of the mayor’s promises since taking office. The walks can take place in neighborhoods, Propst Park, downtown or anywhere residents would like.

The first walk will be tomorrow at 7 AM. Anyone who would like to schedule a walk can do so by calling the mayor’s office.
