Columbus Officer Pleads Not Guilty

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus police officer facing a domestic assault charge pleaded not guilty today in Lowndes County Justice Court.

24-year-old Kenyada Blair will have a Nov. 1 trial date. She’s charged with simple assault-domestic violence stemming from a Sept. 6 incident. She’s serving a 60-day suspension after getting into a fight while on duty.

Blair submitted her resignation Sept. 14. The city council can choose to accept her resignation and let her receive earned vacation time or fire her. Its next meeting is Tuesday evening.
