COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus has a new assistant fire chief.
In its Tuesday meeting, the city council agreed to promote Duane Hughes to the position.
Hughes has been with the fire department for 21 years, and most recently served as the chief of training.
The change comes after former Assistant Chief Mark Ward retired last week.
