Columbus Police Department Officer Suspended For Violating Social Media Policy

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A social media post leads to a nearly two month suspension for a Columbus officer.

Columbus councilmen approved Police Chief Oscar Lewis’ 28 working days recommendation, which is about a two month time span.

Officer Jared Booth is accused of violating the city’s employee social media policy.

Sources tell WCBI that Booth re-posted memes that were sexual in nature and racially insensitive.

No word on whether Booth will appeal the unpaid suspension.
