Columbus Police Make Assault Arrests





COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Columbus man is charged with assaulting two officers at a safety checkpoint.

Police say 24-year-old Travon Roby is charged with two counts of assaulting an officer, possession of a stolen firearm, felon in possession of a weapon and other charges.

Roby was stopped at a roadblock late Wednesday night on 14th Avenue North at 21st Street North when officers say he began to resist.

His bond has not been set.

In an unrelated case, Columbus Police Officers responded to 231 Gregory St. Thursday in reference to a domestic dispute.  Upon arrival, Maurice Love, 35, was arrested for Domestic Violence and Aggravated Assault Strangulation.

 Bond was set at $5,000 with a preliminary hearing date of July 7.

This case is still under investigation.
