Columbus Police Officer Fired

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus police officer is fired and another is suspended.

City councilmen went into executive session to make the decision at last night’s meeting.

Columbus spokesman declined to release the name of the disciplined officers or what policy they violated.

In other related CPD news, one policeman resigned and one investigator plans to retire at the end of May.

City leaders also approved hiring seven new officers, if they pass pre-employment screening.
