Video: Columbus Residents Learn to Fight Back

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The Columbus police department is helping residents learn self defense.

Officers held a class at the Trotter Convention Center Thursday night so folks could learn some techniques to stay safe, and support a good cause.

“It’s very important in this day and time,” said instructor Claude Long. “It’s something that we all need to learn and be aware of. Remain calm and be prepared. That’s the one thing we’re going to try to go over tonight.”

Saum Chiropractic Clinic also offered stress tests for participants.

Money from the class will benefit the department’s National Night Out Against Crime.
