Columbus summer work program kicks off

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – More than two dozen students are rolling up their sleeves and working for the city of Columbus this summer.

These teens were doing some landscaping work Monday morning on Main Street. It was their first day on the job.

The 25 students in the city’s work program are working in various departments.

From parks and recreation to community outreach, the kids will gain a lot of experience for the next eight weeks.

They work five hours a day, beginning at 7 am.
