Columbus Superintendent Search Continues

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus school board continues the search for the next person to lead the district.

Applications will be taken until next Friday, March 23.

The board of trustees hopes to make a decision by June 4.

Former Superintendent Dr. Philip Hickman was fired in January.

Board leaders want people to attend upcoming community stakeholder meetings, which start next week.

“Thus far, from the reportings that I got back, we have had a good application flow come-in. Of course, MSBA continues to reiterate that most of the applications will submit the last week or so of the window closing. That window for our search will close at 5pm, March 23,” says CMSD Board President Jason Spears.

The board discussed potential litigation this morning in executive session.

No information was released from that session.
