Commissioner Of Insurance Visits The Rotary Club

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Commissioner Of Insurance and State Fire Marshal, Mike Chaney, stopped by the Columbus Rotary Club’s monthly meeting.

Chaney was the guest speaker and had several topics on the table for discussion including; licensing types, Fire Academy Training Numbers, Healthcare Insurance, Elevator and Building Safety to name a few.

During the business lunch Chaney confirmed he will seek re-election to his current position. Chaney says it’s because, continuing to improve the quality of life for Mississippians is important to him.

“A mother has a child in her womb she’s usually covered by some type of insurance. When you die you usually have final burial expense and insurance. All in between that you pay all of these higher premiums for automobile insurance, homeowners insurance and you want to know did I get any benefit out of it. It’s designed to protect you so you still have some assets left,” said Chaney.

The next election comes up in 2019.
