Community Counseling Cancels Yard Sale, Deploys Mobile Crisis Unit

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus Community Counseling Services (CCS) has canceled its yard sale scheduled for Friday following this week’s severe weather outbreak.

A press release provided by the organization says the goal has shifted to providing as much aid as possible to storm victims in Louisville.

“Our staff and clients have chosen to celebrate May is Mental Health Month by donating all items collected to those who have lost everything in Louisville,” an excerpt from the release reads.

CCS has opted to send groups to Louisville over the course of the next few days to deliver collected items to different sites in the area.

The organization says it has also sent its Mobile Crisis Unit (MCU) to Louisville to assist families with any “emotional and mental health needs.” The MCU is currently located in the First Baptist Church parking lot in Louisville. According to the press release, the mobile unit is open daily from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Individuals may also call the MCU toll free at 888-943-3022 for after-hours crisis support on behalf of licensed therapists and clinicians. All calls are confidential.
