Computing Firm Opens Mississippi Factory, Plans To Hire 600

OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) – A company that sells computer equipment, software and services is opening a north Mississippi factory, investing $20 million and hiring 600 people over five years.

Synnex Corp. of Fremont, California, said Tuesday that it has shifted its distribution center from Olive Branch to nearby Southaven and opened an Olive Branch factory for computing hardware, including servers.

The Mississippi Development Authority’s giving Synnex $3 million for site preparation and public infrastructure, and committing up to $550,000 for worker training. Synnex is likely to qualify for $5.5 million in local property and inventory tax exemptions over 10 years.

MDA spokeswoman Tammy Craft says jobs qualify for incentives rebating some worker income taxes to the company. That requires the company pay at least $33,000 annually. Synnex could get $9.6 million over 10 years.
