Video: Corinth Man Shot and Killed; Suspect in Custody

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI-TV) – One man is dead and another is custody after a shooting in Corinth Tuesday night.

Police Chief Ralph Dance tells WCBI-TV 19-year-old Deondre Simmons was shot in the chest during an altercation with another man.

Police say the two began fighting outside a house on Cemetery Street just after 9:00 Tuesday night when the unnamed suspect grabbed gun a fired the single shot.

Simmons was taken to a local hospital where he later died. His body will be sent to Jackson for an autopsy Friday.

Dance says no formal charges have been filed, but the alleged shooter is in custody.

The investigation continues.
