CPD gets new K9

The Columbus Department adds a new patrolman but this has a lot of fur and four legs.

Black is the newest member of the police force. He’ll be riding along with Corporal Roman Sones.

He’s full of energy and ready to hit the streets of the Friendly City and help catch the bad guys.

Sones and Chief Fred Shelton both say Black will be a great addition to the department.

“He’s a 5 year old German Shepherd and he’s got a very high energy drive. He shows a strong desire to work and if you motivate him the right way he’ll doing anything you want him to,” said Cpl. Sones.

“This will help our department be more effective, efficient and proactive. If there’s a bomb threat, having a dog gives us immediate capability to search the area and check and make sure the scene is safe.”
