Crash claims life of Columbus teen

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A Columbus teen is killed in a late evening crash.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday evening on MS 50, near Pate Road in Clay County.

Troopers say a 2007 white Dodge Nitro, driven by Robert Fisher Jr. 66, of West Point, MS was traveling west when he collided with a gray 2005 Nissan 350Z, traveling east driven by Jonathan Dean Fondren, 16 of Columbus, MS.

Troopers say Fondren was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Nitro was taken to BMH in Columbus.

The accident remains under investigation by MHP.
