STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – What comes after Black Friday and Small Business Saturday?

Cyber Monday of course, and internet retailers have gone all out to lure online holiday shoppers.

With the intention of taking advantage of pre and post Cyber Monday sales, Starkville online retailer Mike Allen has been actively working his cyber fingers to the bones.

“We do a lot of personal touches with our, everything we post. And so I’ve been very busy crafting newsletters, and comments, editor’s comments. And categorizing these things, so has my team,” said Mike Allen, Shopping–Bargains.Com.

According to one data tracking firm, cyber monday sales are expected to be in the neighborhood of one point five billion dollars nationwide.

Allen is hoping to capture at least some of that market.

“There are some today only sales, a lot of free shipping, a lot of high discounts. You know a good example, Cold Water Creek, they are doing a 50% discount and free shipping. You don’t usually see those combinations together,” added Allen.

And don’t forget to factor in interstate taxes to your online sales and purchases.

Some so called brick and mortar stores will receive taxes while others….depending on the store may not.

“, we pay sales tax, but Amazon there is no physical presence in Mississippi so there is no sales tax at this point. It can be voluntarily collected but there is no legal requirement at this point for it. So thats a big contentions issue. You know putting main street versus online,” said Allen.

Its too early to tell how local online retailers will fare this holiday shopping season, but all signs point to a healthy bottom line.
