Video: Teen Rescued From Trapped Car

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –  A Lowndes County Teen says he is lucky to be alive after a tornado swept through his neighborhood.

Debris, trees and power lines covered homes along Beersheba Road in Lowndes County.

Andrew Junkin says when the sirens rang out, he got in his truck to head towards a  loved ones home to seek shelter.

The 16-year-old’s vehicle wound up trapped in a ditch. The next thing he heard was a loud boom.

“There was a lot of wind and then a big boom,” Junkin said. “All of a sudden I was driving and then a tree fell and power lines fell.”

Junkin was not hurt. No other injuries were reported. A couple of homes along the roadway were damaged from debris.

These videos were shot by WCBI’s Renae Skinner, while crews were out surveying the damage.
