STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) When you think of harvesting, you may think of fields filled with fruits, or vegetables. Three professors at Mississippi State University are changing the face of farming. After six months of construction and planning, this engineering dream team figured out a way to harvest energy. While windmills are nothing new, they’ve designed a turbine with a twist.

While windy days are typically few and far between, the Magnolia State is sunny! Which is why atop Simrall Hall, solar panels are conducting energy.

Once the energy is converted, it can be gauged, studied and store in kilowatts.

It’s the future of alternative energy, but for Dr. Yung Fu and the rest of the engineering team it is just one more day in the life.
