COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) Maryann McAdams works with nearly 50 children everyday. As the after school program coordinator at the YMCA in downtown Columbus, it is up to her and the other counselors to continue education, even after the final bell rings.

From devotions to art classes, the young participants have a well-rounded experience every afternoon. The YMCA is also dedicated to health, so we decided to head to the gym to play a nautical themed, high speed version of Simon says. I jumped aboard, to see if I could stay afloat.

The childrencertainly built up an appetite after the fast paced game. We went upstairs for snack time featuring juice and crackers. The students then tackled their homework.

For Mary Ann McAdams and the rest of the staff at the YMCA, running a tight ship that encourages healthy behavior and an active lifestyle this is just one more day in the life.
