Deadly crash in Lowndes County kills an Alabama man

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An Alabama man has died after a one-car crash in Lowndes County on Saturday.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said the man is Jesse J. Morgan III, 38, of Vernon, Alabama.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the crash Saturday evening on Highway 12 east, near Lone Oak Road.

MHP Troop G Public Affairs Sgt. Derrick Beckom said Morgan was traveling east in his car when he ran off the left side of the highway and overturned.

Morgan was unrestrained and was pronounced dead at the scene by the corner.

This accident remains under investigation by MHP.
