MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Tragedy struck Montgomery County in a major way on Wednesday morning.

Montgomery County Sheriff Bubba Nix said it was around 2:15 AM when everything began.

Three people are dead, one person is injured and a man is facing murder charges after these deadly shootings.

A heavy dose of emotions and tears over took family members as they painfully watched wither loved ones bodies get loaded into a van, and carried away.

“You don’t think of anything happening like this in little Kilmichael, you just don’t,” said Lysynthia Davis, who was friends with one of the victims, Marquita Hill.

“I’m hurt right now, very hurt, I feel like my brother was taken away from me too soon,” said Santanna Ward, sister to one of the victims, Kenneth Loggins.

Ward said she received the phone call from her sister-in-law around 3 A.M. Wednesday morning, telling her that her 32-year old brother, Loggins, was dead.

“I’m feeling very hurt because that was my best friend,” said Ward. “We were only two years a part, we have always been close all of our lives.”

But Ward wasn’t the only person to lose a loved one on Wednesday morning.

Davis said she has been a friends with 59-year old Carolyn Sanders, and her daughter 32-year old Marquita Hill ever since she was a little girl.

“I grew up with Quita,” said Davis. “She was loud, outspoken, you never had a dull moment around her. She was just always happy, just an outgoing person, she was just a good person.”

Davis said Hill got along with everyone, which makes her wonder why anyone would ever want to hurt her.

“It’s a real tragedy, I just don’t believe it,” said Davis. “I was like, man, I don’t even know, It’s real hard.”

But despite this hard time, both families said they’re trying to remaining positive, and think of the good times they shared with their loved ones.

“He was a big teddy bear,” Ward recalled. “He was out going, he was very outgoing and he would speak to anybody, he’d give you his last, he was very caring and sometimes his weight would intimidate people, but once you get to know him, he was a very sweet person.”

The fourth person who was shot is Marcus Brown.

A Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman said Brown was air lifted to the university of Mississippi medical center in Jackson. He is listed in critical condition

Now according to the Montgomery County sheriff, Bubba Nix, Odell Hallmon was the man behind these shootings, and he turned himself in to the Montgomery County sheriff department on Wednesday morning.

He’s charged with three counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault.

Hallmon is also facing a possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge.

Sheriff Nix said it’s still unclear why the shootings happened, and for Carolyn Sanders, the mother that was tragically shot on her birthday. This would have been her 59th birthday.
