Debris cleanup continues following Columbus tornado

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Debris continued to be cleaned-up in Columbus from the February tornado.

Looks Great Services continued to pick-up around the damaged areas.

Crews said residents should put all debris out by the road by this weekend, that’s when the final round of pick-ups will be done.

Work will continue this week, as well.

The company has to meet certain requirements for hauling away the damaged property.

“We are hauling to two different landfills. One is for vegetative materials, clean vegetative materials. The other is for C and D materials, that is short for construction and demolition which is anything that is part of a house; brick, cement, wood, anything like that. Clean vegetative materials are going to be the trees. We are not separating this stuff on the street,” said Looks Great Services worker Noah Frederick.

The debris must be weighed and measured.

Over 1 million pounds has already been cleared.
