Debris Removal Grant Approved for April Storms

WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRESS RELEASE)- On Friday, August 25, 2017, Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker announced the approval of more than $10.1 million dollars in grants to offset debris removal costs associated with tornadoes, severe storms, and flooding across the state last April.

Four Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance grants have been awarded for Holmes, Montgomery, and Yazoo counties, and the City of Durant.

These areas are included in a federal disaster declaration issued in May following damages sustained during those April storms.

In our viewing area, FEMA is providing $1.63 million to Montgomery County, which is 81 percent of the total project cost; and $1.53 million to the City of Durant, 80 percent of the total project cost.

State and local resources are required to meet the remaining cost-share.
