Decent Weekend, Cold & Snow Next Week

FRIDAY NIGHT:  Clouds will increase across the area and a few light rain showers/sprinkles and/or snow flurries are possible.  The overall chance is 20%.  Dry air close to the ground will help to limit anything that manages to reach the surface so no impacts are expected.  Look for lows in the upper 20s to around 30 with light wind.

SATURDAY:  Skies should be variably cloudy overall with highs getting back into the upper 40s to around 50.  Just a 10% chance of a light sprinkle/shower exists.

SATURDAY NIGHT: Overall quiet with passing clouds from time to time. Lows in the 30s.

SUNDAY:  A mix of sun and clouds is on tap with warmer highs in the mid 50s.

MONDAY:  Unseasonably mild air returns for just one day.  We currently expect highs in the 60s with a southwesterly breeze.  Some showers are possible during the evening hours.

MONDAY NIGHT-TUESDAY:  An Arctic cold front is expected to pass through our area early Tuesday morning.  Rain showers will switch over to snow showers and some accumulation is certainly possible.  As of Friday afternoon, there is the potential for a coating to perhaps a few inches.  Moisture will wrap up by midday.  Temperatures on Tuesday may only be in the low 30s and 20s with even colder wind chill values.  Suffice to say it’s going to be a stark reminder that it still is winter.

TUESDAY NIGHT-WEDNESDAY:  Black ice and dangerous wind chill values will be an ongoing concern after the snow.  Dry air and a little sun could help to evaporate a lot of the moisture off the roads but we’ll just have to wait and see. Plan on highs in the 30s at this time.
