Video: Deputies Make Another Arrest In Arson For Hire Scheme

WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)-Clay County deputies made another arrest in an arson-for-hire scheme on Monday.

72 year-old Thomas “Tommy” Williams of Pheba is charged with two counts of arson.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said Williams is connected to the West Point Stockyard fire this past November.

Scott said Williams was paid to set the fire.

This past Friday, 54 year-old Michael Tribble, 42 year-old Jason Williams of Maben and 38 year-old Daniel Easley were all charged with arson in connection with this case.

More arrests are expected in this investigation that spans several counties and involves federal law enforcement.

“He appears to be the common denominator in both crimes,” said Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott. “We’re in the process now of picking up some more individuals that we know was involved. This thing overall has covered about 6 counties. So, right now we’re working with our local, state, and federal officials in trying to wrap this thing up. A bunch of stolen property’s been recovered, so we’re working very closely to try and help our neighbors out.”

Williams bond was set at one hundred thousand dollars.
