Derma Fuel Leak Update

DERMA, Miss. (WCBI) — Derma is returning to normal as clean up crews finish the final stages of a fuel leak earlier this week.

The leak happened at the Derma Fast Stop Tuesday evening.

Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Skinner tells WCBI that fuel never got into the water supply, and only contaminated the tank bed around the tanker that leaked.

A fuel company and Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality will be on scene for the next few weeks running tests to make sure the area is safe.

Skinner says the area is safe and local stores remain open.
