Ellis Talks About His Decision To Retire From The Legislature

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – It came as a shock to his constituents and his colleagues in the legislature when Representative Tyrone Ellis announced his retirement more than two weeks ago.

The long-time lawmaker has served District 38 for thirty-eight years. His entire career in public service spans almost forty-five years, having served in the military and on the Oktibbeha County School board.

Ellis says he is grateful for the outpouring of love and support since made the announcement on June 30th.

He plans to devote more time to his ministry.

Governor Phil Bryant has not yet set a date for the special election.
