EMCC hosts Mississippi FFA state competitions

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Future farmers from across the state competed Friday for honors.

EMCC hosted the Mississippi FFA state competitions.

Chapters competed in welding, tractor operations and maintenance troubleshooting at the Golden Triangle campus.

Organizers hope the students learn many skills from the competition and from the FFA.

“Future Farmers of America is a great organization that has been around for many years. It works on team building and social skills and other aspects of the trade. Today, they are competing for first place in the state and bragging rights,” said EMCC welding instructor Gary Gammill

Six school districts were represented in the competition.
