EMCC Mayhew adult education program receives big donation
MAYHEW, Miss. (WCBI) – EMCC’s Mayhew campus got a big donation thanks to a North Mississippi non-profit.
Second Chance MS donated $50,000 to the adult education program.
The group prides itself in raising money and awareness of workforce training and making sure Mississippi has people ready for work.
The 50,000 donated Wednesday will help pave the way to prepare those at EMCC to go straight to work or prepare them for another step in getting a higher education.
“It’s the core part of our mission at Second Chance to provide support to adults who are going back to school to get their high school equivalency and or workforce training, so they can get a stable non-minimum wage job and remove any barriers that those adults encounter, so they can get their high school equivalency and the workforce training they need,” said Second Chance Mississippi executive director Zach Scruggs.
“Right now the Golden Triangle is a very good area for employment and they are needed by companies in this area,” said EMCC President Scott Alsobrooks. “We are very grateful for Second Chance to help us help these students get out there into the workforce.”
Second Chance Mississippi was formed in 2016.
