Endowment Established For B.B. King Museum

INDIANOLA, Miss. (AP) – An endowment has been set up to support operations of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola.

King, who was born in Leflore County’s Berclair community in 1925, died at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday. He was 89.

Bill McPherson of Indianola, the museum’s chairman, established the endowment with his cousins Tom and Walton Gresham. McPherson says the endowment will cover a portion of the museum’s costs every year.

They started the endowment with a $400,000 donation.

McPherson says in a news release that the endowment gives a base for the museum’s fundraising every year.

In its first six years, the Indianola museum has hosted more than 30,000 visitors from all 50 states and 35 foreign counties.
