Fake Payroll Checks Hit North Mississippi

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County Sheriff’s Office warns public after they say bad checks are circling around.

Investigators say the checks are being passed as payroll checks on JESCO Inc.

The checks have been cashed by several local businesses.

Deputies say they’re forged and not issued by the company.

Investigators are warning businesses to verify the checks before cashing.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office or Crimestoppers of Northeast Mississippi.
