Famed saxophonist Ace Cannon passes away

CALHOUN CITY ( WCBI) – One of the country’s most prolific saxophones is silenced.   Calhoun City resident Ace Cannon died Thursday morning at his home.  The 74 year old Cannon started playing at 10 years old and became a top draw touring with the Bill Black combo before branching out on his own.  The alto tenor sax player spent four decades serving as a session musician for a long list of Nashville artists.  Cannon is a member of the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame.
