Family Members Left Devastated After Their Loved One Is Killed In Double Homicide

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- The Calhoun County community is still reeling after two people were killed in a double homicide on Wednesday.

Calhoun County Sheriff Greg Pollan said the victims are Kendrick Armstrong and Sherri Turner, both from Bruce.

“I’m having an out of body experience,” said Nation Armstrong, Kendrick’s younger sister. “It doesn’t feel real. It hasn’t caught up with the real reality in my head, and the real reality is he’s gone.”

As the rain fell outside of the home where bodies of Armstrong and Turner were found, so did the tears fall from family members faces as they try to wrap their minds around this devastating tragedy.

Armstrong’s family members described him and Turner as being close friends.

According to the family, Armstrong was last seen and heard from Tuesday morning.

After continuing to call his cell phone without an answer for several hours, family members then filed a missing persons report to the Bruce Police Department.

“This was definitely out of his character not to be reached and we automatically knew something was wrong, and you don’t want to think the worse,” said Nation.

Unfortunately their worse nightmare was about to become a reality.

Investigators received a tip that led to a home on County Road 285 where they spoke with homeowners Christopher Keel and his girlfriend Trinity Hastings.

During the investigation, deputies learned the two were connected to the missing persons report and arrested Keel and Hastings.

Sheriff Pollan said the victims bodies were found in a creek 250 yards behind the suspects home.

Both victims had multiple gunshot wounds.

Family members said they don’t know how the victims and the suspects knew one another or crossed paths.

“A lot of people want to make it out to be a race thing, I don’t think it had anything to do with that,” Nation expressed. “I don’t know what their beef was, but they set out to plot, so it seems, and murder two good people, but for what? What was your reasons? Let me know. I would love to know.”

Nation admitted, it’s going to be tough to accept the fact that her older brother is no longer here.

She describes her brother as a loving, caring, and family oriented person, a person that was taken away from her too soon.

“Kenny was just like my brother,” said Aletha Hall, Kendrick’s aunt. “Whenever I called Kenny and needed him, Kenny was there for us. That really hurt. Our nephew gone. They took my nephew’s life away from us and that really hurt us.”

“Everybody knew my brother,” Nation expressed. “Knew who he was, how he was, a good man. Who are you to take him from me, us, his kids, mother, brother, sister, who are you.”

Armstrong recently celebrated his 38th birthday this past weekend.

Keel is being charged with capital murder and is believed to be the gunman.

Hastings is being charged with accessory after the fact.

Bond for Hastings is set at $250,000. No bond is set for keel.

This investigation is still on-going.
