Fatal Winston County Fire

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – One person is dead after fire destroys a Winston County mobile home.

Firefighters were called to the home early this morning, November 13, just after midnight.

Sheriff Jason Pugh says area residents heard some type of explosion in the area.

It’s unclear if the fire sparked that explosion because the cause is unknown, at this time.

Coroner Scott Gregory says investigators believe they know who victim is but the remains have been sent to Pearl for an autopsy for positive identification.

The state fire marshal is assisting in the investigation.
